DURHAM, North Carolina, March 25, 2025 – The BODYARMOR State Games Winter Events concluded on March 23 with record-breaking turnout and exciting competition. This year’s Winter Games featured Esports, Figure Skating, Ice Hockey, and Pickleball, with competitions held throughout the Triangle and Greensboro. Athletes traveled from across North Carolina and beyond to compete at venues such as Wake Competition Center, Greensboro Ice House, and Pin Point, among others.

The 2025 Winter Games featured a record 1,285 athletes from 49 North Carolina counties and 21 states. The event also set participation records in multiple sports. Figure Skating saw 356 skaters take the ice in Greensboro, breaking last year’s record of 306 participants. Esports also set a new benchmark with 114 gamers battling it out in Tekken 8, Super Smash Bros, Street Fighter 6, Guilty Gear: Strive, and Granblue Fantasy Versus: Rising. The Gohon Kumite Tournament was part of the inaugural IbashoCon event in Raleigh thanks to partner Animazed. The strong turnout underscores the continued growth of both Figure Skating and Esports in North Carolina.

Pickleball made its own mark, setting an individual tournament record with 471 players. This surpasses the previous record of 435, set at last year’s Summer Games. 15 hockey teams joined the Winter Games action, bringing high-level competition to three ice rinks across the Triangle. Both Pickleball and Ice Hockey will return for the Summer Games this June, giving these athletes another chance to compete for the gold in what promises to be another exciting chapter of the BODYARMOR State Games. The Summer Pickleball tournament will be held at the Greensboro Complex on June 26-29. Ice Hockey will take place at Triangle area rinks, with the youth tournament taking place on June 13-15 and adults taking the ice on June 20-22.

After a successful Winter Games, the BODYARMOR State Games will continue the action-packed year of competition this summer in the Greensboro region. The BODYARMOR State Games Summer Events will begin on May 31st and conclude on June 29th, hosting competitions at venues throughout Greensboro and Guilford County.
