Routes & Format
The Mountain Ride is a loop ride event, with routes beginning and ending at the campsite in Murphy.  The event begins on Friday afternoon with a 15-20 mile warm up ride that is available from 1pm-5pm.  Once your legs are warmed up, you'll be all set to spend Saturday and Sunday meandering along the valleys and/or climbing the mountains on one of our various route options ranging from 10 miles to 62 miles.  The best part is that the routes begin and end from the same location, so there's no hassle of moving camp each day!  The beautiful thing about Murphy and Cherokee County is the expansive valley between the mountains. It is unlike any other part of our great state. This valley will allow us to offer flat routes this year but don't worry, we will have plenty of climbing options avaialble as well. We encourage you to come experience this unique location from the seat of your bicycle!

About Murphy
Murphy is the county seat of Cherokee County, located in the heart of the Appalachian Mountains. Murphy is an old town with its origins dating back to the 1830s. Downtown is beautiful with flower lined streets and several historic buildings. Murphy has restaurants, unique shopes and other interesting establishments all within walking distance in the heart of town. Nearby Hiwassee Lake is considered one of the most beautiful in the state. If you are looking for a charming small town in the mountains, look no further. Murphy, with its population of 1700, resembles a Norman Rockwell painting. It is indeed small town life at the very best!
