DURHAM, N.C. (September 20, 2024) – The Cycle North Carolina (CNC) Coastal Ride is headed to Elizabeth City in 2025.  Organizers expect more than 1,500 participants from 35-40 different states and multiple countries to take part in the event.  This is the first time that Elizabeth City has hosted the Coastal Ride, and the first time the Coastal Ride has been to a new town in 18 years.  Previous hosts include Edenton, Washington and Oriental.

The fun-filled weekend will offer three days of cycling and feature some great Coastal Carolina food, music and historical sites.  Cyclists will have many daily route options, ranging from 15-62+ miles, plus a century route to tackle on Saturday.  The CNC Coastal Ride will also include many off-the-bike recreational activities in the Elizabeth City area. Visits to museums, historic sites, art galleries, locally-made craft shops and water activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, fishing and boating will fill time away from the bike and provide a taste of spring in Coastal North Carolina.

Registration for the 2025 Cycle NC Coastal Ride is now open at www.ncsports.org and interested riders are encouraged to register early, to avoid missing out on the highlight of the spring for bicycling in North Carolina.

The Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride is a fully supported bicycle event with support vehicles available to aid cyclists who experience physical or mechanical breakdowns.  Rest stops will be set up every 10-20 miles along each route for riders to get off their bikes and explore, while quenching their hunger and thirst. Indoor, outdoor and RV camping areas with amenities will be provided at Mid-Atlantic Christian University and in the downtown Elizabeth City area. Participants will also fill the hotels, Bed and Breakfast Inns and vacation homes in Elizabeth City. Cycling routes will travel through small towns such as Camden, Shawboro, South Mills, Sligo, Moyock, Hertford, Gatesville, Nixonton and Winslow to name a few.

The Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride is presented by Retire North Carolina. Partner organizations of Cycle North Carolina Coastal Ride include: BODYARMOR, Durham Bulls, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of NC, Harris Teeter, Truist, Fat Tire, the N.C.
